Class Ranking: Are you frustrated because you can't find out
whether your child is ranked 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th or whatever in his or
her class? Part of the problem is that a number of students are slow to
make up their "incompletes". A better solution might be for the school's
computers to assume a worst and best case scenario for those students
with incompletes and print a min and max class ranking instead of the
"approximate" class ranking.
Grade Point Average: What system is South Kingstown on? SCFun talked to a senior who is ranked #1. He has taken every honors course possible. He has never gotten anything less than an "A". His G.P.A. is approximately 4.40. You could say SKHS is on a "4.40 scale". Problem: Schools offering "5" points for an "A" in an honors course. Should "cum grade point" be considered to reward kids who take harder courses? Student A takes four honors and one regular elective. His or her grade point average = 4.8 ... (4 x 5 + 1 x 4) / 5 = 4.8. Student B takes four honors and no elective. His or her GPA = 5.0 ... (4 x 5) / 4 = 5.0. One Solution: Grade Points that are cumulative, not an average. Above, student A would have 24GP's, while student B would have only 20. |

Unbelieveable. Sad. Disturbing. First the URI Professor's wife and now Sue Velicer. She commits suicide
on May 25, 2007, her 52nd birthday. She was a valuable SKCares Volunteer.

Peter Kovacs ... SCFun is guessing that he graduated from South Kingstown High School around 1996. Well,
he has quite a web site, full of blogs and pictures (Andy is cute). Check it out. 12/18/08.
Chad M. Mancuso, SKHS Class of 2007, was killed early April 17th when his car left the road on Route 1 at Kings Factory Road
in Charlestown and and struck a tree. He was discovered around 6:00am. Police believe, based on reports from homeowners
in the area, that the accident happened between 2:00 and 3:00am. Speed appears to be a factor. No aclcohol involved.

injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident on July 12, 2009. The article
